I loved, loved, loved it and I had hope if they had ever done a reboot, it would have lived up to the original. I was in elementary school when I saw the original Tron movie. This is also quite beautiful but more for action and message. I was a big fan of the original- that film is an undoubted work of art. That's ok-now I realize there's a moral message here. This is a philosophical film- it got me to think that maybe it is the fathers role to forgive? I have yet to see it in 3D on the home screen. Now that I have a five year old son, I'm appreciating the story line more. There's a good reason to buy it- supporting the arts! I keep thinking that they'll break even on the cost to make this in the next 28 years, lols! That being said, don't hold your breath for a sequel any time soon. It is a film spectacular in every sense of the word, but I realize there are so many other films that compete with this in at least one aspect. It's definitely upgraded in almost every department. i think the same thing applies here to people's expectations of this movie. Remember the hype about the internet being a "game changer" for humanity? Well it was, just maybe not in the way YOU expected it to be. That didn’t make Tron Legacy bad, it just wasn’t as special as it could have been. Sam gets in a bunch of fights and is on the run, but it just didn’t go anywhere. There wasn’t enough tension or excitement behind it. The problem was that the plot just didn’t deliver. The oppressive system was the result of Kevin’s hubris. Thus, Kevin lost control and Clu took over creating a dictatorship. Kevin believed he was creating a utopia in his own image and Clu actually looks like Kevin. It turns out Clu was created by Kevin to run and protect the Grid. So you get the disc game, the light cycles, etc., which were all standouts from the original, and parts of the survival games that programs were put through.įinally, there’s a deep irony to the story. The next thing was because it was so long since Tron came out they had to re-introduce everything. The Grid is a dark place symbolizing the oppression with all the characters set against that background with the lights adorn their uniforms which stands for their life energy. The first thing that stands out about Tron Legacy just like Tron was the great graphics and special effects. The story becomes one of rebellion against the powerful, but unfortunately it fell flat.
All the other programs are heavily policed and regularly destroyed or sent to the games for the pleasure of others where they fight to the death. Sam finds that the Grid is an oppressive system run by a program called Clu. Kevin disappeared into the Grid in Tron and now he was drawing his son in to help him. Sam (Garrett Hedlund) receives a message from his long lost father Kevin (Jeff Bridges) the original Tron star.

The movie takes off where the first left off.
I was a huge Tron fan when it came out in the 1980s, so thirty years later I was excited to see the follow up. I encountered no issues playing this disc on my 2017 model LG Blu-ray player. The acting is solid, the visuals are exceptional, and the sound is amazing. Overall, it's an absolute showpiece for the Blu-ray format. This is more of a slow-burn film, and if that's not your thing, it might prove frustrating.
The only potential negative I could personally find with it, is that it sometimes moves a tad slowly. It handles itself very well, and I never felt that the film was trying to appeal to everybody all at once. I somewhat expected this to be a goofy, comedic film involving videogames, and I was wrong. The thing I enjoyed the most about this film is how serious it takes itself.

The film is chocked full of impressive visuals and has the sound to back it up. The amount of fine detail visible in this transfer is simply breathtaking, especially when watched on a large screen. The picture quality of this Blu-ray is outstanding. This item arrived quickly Via Amazon prime.
